HASSAN BACKS DOWN FROM NURSING HOME RAID Sudden Reversal Follows Public Outcry Over Devastating Cuts Concord – New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn today released the following statement regarding Governor Hassan’s backing down from her raid of dedicated funds for nursing homes: “While it is welcome news that Governor Hassan has backed down from cutting millions to New Hampshire nursing homes, it is long overdue. Governor Hassan’s failure to lead on this important issue not only caused unnecessary distress for those affected, but demonstrated how irresponsible and out-of-touch she is on issues critical to New Hampshire’s elderly. Fortunately, the Republican Senate led by Senators Morse and Forrester showed the leadership that Governor Hassan refused to show. We hope that in the future Governor Hassan will take the opportunity to listen to responsible Republican leaders in the legislature and heed their advice.” BACKGROUND: Nursing home residents: Restore $7 million (Associated Press, 02/13/15) Governor Hassan and HHS to Implement House Finance Plan to Restore Funds for Rate Increase for Nursing Homes (Office of the Governor, 05/05/15) |
