Concord – New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement today on the passing of Ambassador Joseph Petrone of Dublin, NH:
“Joseph Petrone was a proud patriot who served his country with honor and distinction for over half a century. His military career spanned three wars and he earned numerous awards and decorations including three battle stars from General Patton’s Army for his distinguished service in World War II. He continued his service as a diplomat after President Ronald Reagan appointed his as the United States representative to the European Office of the United Nations in 1987.
“While Ambassador Petrone’s list of personal accolades is long and impressive, he will be remembered most for his immense kindness and generosity that touched so many lives across our state. He was a dedicated conservative activist who not only served as a trusted adviser to New Hampshire’s elected officials but also as a strong supporter of organizations that help young people engage in our political process. Through his tireless efforts, he helped to open doors for a countless number of leaders who have made significant contributions to the State of New Hampshire.

I am personally saddened by the loss of one of the most honorable men I have ever known.  Joseph and Augusta acted as the Chairmen of my Congressional campaigns and became dear and trusted friends. I will miss the sight of Joseph and Augusta walking together, hand in hand, smiling brightly at Lincoln Day dinners and summer political picnics and he will forever hold a special place in my heart.

“Ambassador Joseph Petrone will be deeply missed, and my thoughts and prayers are with Augusta, his family and his many friends during this difficult time.”
