MESSAGE FROM THE REPUBLICAN LEADER – April 7, 2023

House Republicans and Friends Across New Hampshire,

Yesterday the House came together in a bipartisan fashion to pass the budget out of the House on a historic voice vote. However, let’s not forget that this was the first step in a very long process and this is not what the final budget will look like in June- thankfully. There are many items contained in that budget that I do not support, and I’m looking forward to working with the Senate and Governor on a final product that is balanced, includes key priorities to promote and increase freedom, and gets unchecked spending increases back under control.

Make no mistake- this is a long march to war. We will fight against the drastic spending increases in the budget, while Democrats continue their fight to keep New Hampshire’s income tax. We will ensure what is enacted in June makes New Hampshire fully income tax free.

This last week we also watched Democrats continue their assault on the wildly successful Education Freedom Account program. Every single House Democrat voted to take away management of the program from the organization that is fighting everyday to make a meaningful impact in children’s education. Every single House Democrat voted to force children to remain in schools where they are failing to thrive before they are allowed to seek alternative solutions. Thankfully these initiatives failed on the House floor, and at the same time, I am looking forward to watching initiatives pass in the Senate to increase the income cap on the program and open it up to at-risk youth. We will continue to do all we can to ensure every child has a chance to succeed in the learning environment that is best suited to them.

All the best,

Jason Osborne, House Majority Leader
