“What has always been true is no government program can or should replace the role that parents play in their children’s lives. This bill reinforces that parents are, in fact the primary decision-makers in all matters regarding their children, this bill is critical to ensure parents have the voice they deserve.”

March 30th 2023 there will be a hearing at 1:00pm at the Legislative Office Building Room 205-207 in Concord NH for Senate Bill 272-FN in the Education Committee
House Republicans and Friends Across New Hampshire,
House Democrats had two opportunities this week to show us they are willing to work together to better the Granite State, but unfortunately they once again proved they are pro-abortion and anti-parent extremists.
They voted in lock step to ensure parents remain in the dark regarding their children’s activities in schools. Just this week the Granite State Poll showed parents overwhelmingly approve of the initiatives in the Parental Bill of Rights. Two-thirds of parents surveyed responded they believe they should have the right to inspect any instruction material, or be told if their child is going by a different name or gender at school. Opponents have said that this bill would give parents the final word on their child’s health, education, and welfare. I fail to see how this is dangerous. That is the basic job of being a parent. Educators and parents should be partners in a child’s education, and parents should not be misled or left in the dark regarding their children’s activities.
Likewise, almost every House Democrat voted to repeal the common sense abortion reforms that a unanimous vote of the House passed last term. The current House Democratic position is to allow abortion on-demand and up until the very moment of birth. Republicans acknowledge the truth that Granite Staters identify as pro-choice, but also know that over two-thirds of Granite Staters support some restrictions on abortion. Our current law satisfies and represents the majority of Granite Stater’s views on abortion.
But there was a ray of hope for progress this week when Democrats agreed to place some of their partisan bills on the table, which helped with us get through the calendar in a timely manner. This next week the focus will surround the House version of the budget. I am confident the bipartisan budget proposed by the Finance committee will contain something for everyone to support and that there is no reason we cannot come together to pass a budget that addresses the needs of Granite Staters.
House Republicans and Friends Across New Hampshire,
This week, House Republicans stood up for YOU. To name just a few of our accomplishments, House Republicans passed an increase on the Education Freedom Accounts income cap, upheld your Second Amendment rights, and defeated a barrage of attacks on housing providers. Meanwhile, our friends on the other side of the aisle (including their leadership) voted to ban your gas-powered car and tried to stick you with a nearly billion dollar carbon tax.
I was particularly alarmed by the fact that the House Democratic Leader, Deputy Leader, Leader Pro Tempore, and Deputy Floor Leader all voted for a ban on gasoline powered cars. This extremist legislation would shackle Granite Staters to unelected California bureaucrats and force us to adopt whatever rules they desire. Not only would this bill increase the fees to register your car, but would also impose tens of thousands of dollars of fines on vehicle manufacturers who do not meet these extremist standards. It is truly ironic that during the debate on this bill, House Democrats tried to claim that it would enable the free-market. Only in today’s Democratic party would the “free market” be considered forcing car companies to produce compliant vehicles by threatening them with fines.
But this raises a question, if so many of the House Democratic Leadership voted for this bill to let California write New Hampshire law, are these members really here for Granite Staters or are they there for their big-dollar out of state liberal special interests.
This week was a reminder that when our members show up for their constituents, we break through the noise and deliver results. However, we need your support now more than ever. Whenever you see one of our caucus members, recognize the importance that each one of them has to Republican wins and encourage them that they are fighting every day for you and your families. Then, when election season inevitably comes back around, remind your friends of the results that we have delivered and all of the ruin that the Democrats have attempted to bring.
Our caucus is persisting in spite of our razor-thin majority. I hope that we continue to earn your support and that you send us some much needed backup when you vote for more Republican State Representatives in 2024.
