Republicans’ Leadership Delivers Relief to Granite Staters

Concord, NH- House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) released the following statement after the House passed HB2023, making appropriations to the department of energy for a state emergency fuel assistance program and a supplemental electric benefit, and relative to the electric low-income program fund on a voice vote.

“Due to no fault of their own, many Granite Staters who have not previously needed assistance, may find themselves unable to pay their bills this winter and do not qualify for the federal assistance programs. We want to ensure those people have some help. Thanks to sound fiscal management and responsible leadership, we have created a favorable economic environment that has resulted in a revenue surplus. We believe using this surplus to assist households heat their homes this winter is the right thing to do.”

“Let me be completely clear: we would not be in this situation if it were not for gross mismanagement and failed policies by the Biden Administration, and complete inaction by Maggie Hassan, Chris Pappas, and Ann Kuster. Heating and electric costs are anticipated to rise to catastrophic levels. Although we cannot reverse the federal government’s decisions from Concord, we are doing what we can to help Granite Staters make it through the winter while also easing the tax burden on municipalities’ welfare programs. Washington must wake up and realize the devastating effects their policies are having on Americans.”

  • Reaction to Biden Address

House Republicans and Friends Across New Hampshire,

Last night, our country watched as President Joe Biden had the gall to use taxpayer money to make a speech about how any dissent against his agenda is a threat to the country. To make it worse, Biden was surrounded by members of the military and surrounded by red lighting. It is ironic that while he pretends to care about unity and democracy, he stood amid grim red lighting and flanked by the military while pounding his fists about how Republicans are a threat. After all of the virtue signaling from the Left about tolerance and getting along, we add these brazen displays to a laundry list of ways in which the Democrat party has openly declared war on Americans who express even the smallest amount of objection to their radical agenda.

Our caucus will not be intimidated by Joe Biden’s attempts to scare us into submission. As the Biden administration continues their attempts to trample on our freedoms every single day, I renew my promise that the House Republican Caucus will continue to stand up so that our basic freedoms and individual liberty will remain protected. As you prepare to vote in the upcoming election, remember this image and what the Democrat Party thinks of you.

Finally, as a reminder, State Offices will be closed on Monday, September 5th 2022 in observance of Labor Day.
All the best, Jason Osborne, House Majority Leader
  • Cheat to Win

This is the type of thing you hear about in other places, but never expected to happen in New Hampshire. An illegal mailer was sent by Democrats to influence a Republican Primary. The idea is to support the candidate they prefer to run against in November. It’s despicable, but common these days. We used to think NH Democrats were better than this. Guess not.

  • “Technical” Recession

House Republicans and Friends Across New Hampshire,

It was disheartening to read the GDP report yesterday and to learn that the United States is now in a recession, or as the mainstream media is trying to brand it, a possible “technical” recession. Joe Biden and his cronies may try to gaslight the public and redefine the term to try to save face, but Granite Staters will not be fooled, just like we were not fooled when they falsely claimed that Afghanistan would not fall or when they said that inflation was transitory. I was even more surprised to learn that in spite of the economic disaster, Democrats are considering raising taxes by hundreds of millions of dollars and are weighing spending another trillion dollars.

Between the reckless spending in Washington, the rising price of food and the inflation that has crunched Americans’ budgets, or the pain of paying over $4 for a gallon of gas, this very real recession was brought to you with compliments of the Democratic Party and their senseless policies. I promise you this, New Hampshire House Republicans will continue to fight for policies and solutions that will ease the burden on our citizens.

Remember that the only way out of the mess that the Left has put us in is to vote every one of them out of office. This upcoming election is our chance to fix the ruin that democrats have delivered and begin to rebuild our economy and our country. Our job is to work as hard as we can to build a red wave and make sure that we send Republicans to as many offices as we can from the State House to your local town hall to the chambers down in Washington.

    All the best,

    Jason Osborne, House Majority Leader

  • U.S. SUPREME COURT RULES 6-3 IN FAVOR OF PARENTS AND RELIGIOUS CHOICE

U.S. SUPREME COURT RULES 6-3 IN FAVOR OF PARENTS AND RELIGIOUS CHOICE

Chief Justice Roberts writes majority opinion in Maine case reinforcing a parent’s freedom to direct the education of their children

WASHINGTON, D.C. —  In a victory for students across the nation, the U.S. Supreme Court just validated parents’ constitutionally-protected right to direct the education of their children.

The 6-3 decision in Carson v Makin reads in part that “once a state decides to subsidize private education it cannot disqualify some private schools because they are religious.” Maine created a tuition assistance program so that students living in communities without state-run public schools would have options, but they limited those options to secular schools. The case was brought by three families who filed a lawsuit in federal court arguing that the “nonsectarian” requirement violates the Constitution. Today the High Court agreed.

The decision reaffirms the Court’s findings in Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue. Chief Justice Roberts wrote that “a benefit program under which private citizens ‘direct government aid to religious schools wholly as a result of their own genuine and independent private choice’ does not offend the Establishment Clause.”

Former Solicitor General and counsel to CER Paul Clement said that, “The decision certainly creates further momentum in the direction that any statute that limits relief to non-sectarian schools is in trouble and… reaffirms what was already clear from Espinoza.” Clement’s legal guidance to states in “Making the Most of Espinoza to Advance Education Opportunity,” is a seminal publication for state lawmakers wanting to remove the last vestiges of discrimination caused by “Blaine” amendments. In the coming days, CER will be monitoring further expert review of the decision and sharing with states how they can act to allow parents to fully choose the education that best meets their children’s needs.

  • Its the economy, stupid

    MESSAGE FROM THE REPUBLICAN LEADER

House Republicans and Friends Across New Hampshire,

These last two years, we have watched the Biden Administration destroy our economy, send fuel prices skyrocketing, beg foreign countries for gas and baby formula, eviscerate our 401ks and plunge the United States into recession.

Republicans are the ones standing up and saying no more to Joe Biden’s madness. I hope that we can count on you to support our Republican candidates for State Representative and help us fight back against Joe Biden’s agenda of rampant inflation and total fiscal insanity.

Pay very close attention to what you hear from the other side of the aisle as well. The gaslighting would be laughable if our circumstances were not so dire, especially as Joe Biden claims that our economy “is the fastest-growing economy in the world.” Let me ask you this, do you feel like the economy is growing and strong? I am curious to hear our Democrat colleagues’ opinions and whether or not they stand with President Joe Biden and his incompetent handling of the economy.

I want to express my thanks for your continued support. As our members are already hitting the campaign trail for the summer, I hope that the Republican caucus can win your vote to represent you for two more years in Concord.

    All the best,

    Jason Osborne, House Majority Leader
