Concord, NH: House Speaker Sherman Packard (R-Londonderry) and Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) responded to a new state-by-state accomplishments sheet released by the Biden Administration aiming to take credit for the economic stability House Republicans achieved for NH in this last legislative term:

House Speaker Packard:

“I cannot blame President Biden for wanting to highlight the accomplishments achieved by NH Republicans. With rising gas prices, record-high inflation, and supply chain issues due to inept management at the national level – it is no wonder this Administration would want to piggyback off the success of state policies, particularly here in the Granite State.”

“With smart, thoughtful management and with the help of my leadership team, this state was able to rise above the challenges COVID-19 presented and move forward. This legislature implemented business tax cuts to

encourage a competitive environment to attract new employees and retain quality workers. We provided nearly $400 million in property tax relief to towns and municipalities. We loosened regulations and gave NH families the opportunity to choose the educational path that best fits them.”

“Despite Washington’s counterproductive policies that have only brought chaos and instability – NH added more jobs to its economy and has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. Our state has consistently been ranked as one of the best places in which to live, work, and raise a family – thanks to the hard work of our citizen-legislators, not the Democrats in Congress or President Biden.”

Majority Leader Osborne:

“It is laughable that the Biden Administration believes the ‘robust economic progress’ New Hampshire has made over the last two years is a result of his policies. Our historically low unemployment rate, the additional jobs added, the growth in small business, is all a result of sound fiscal management and Republican policies passed by the New Hampshire state legislature.”

“The Biden Administration has only been successful in causing massive inflation and gas prices to rise to historic levels. This administration has done nothing to facilitate pro-business conditions that help employers provide competitive wages or fostered an environment to help attract and retain employees. Instead, we have Granite Staters who are worried that they cannot pay the ever-increasing cost of groceries, for gas in order to get to work, and never mind how they are going to pay to heat their homes this coming winter. Next year, New Hampshire’s Republican majority will be laser-focused on policies to enable Granite Staters to weather the disaster being brought upon us by Washington.”

In my travels around the Granite State, I have noticed a reoccurring theme whenever I talk to constituents. Nearly every single person brings the same few issues up: inflation, gas and food prices. It is hard to believe that only two years ago, I could fill my tank with gas for only $1.99 a gallon, but now I’m paying almost $5 for the same product. It is especially troubling hearing our country’s Treasury Secretary claim that the economy is “tremendously strong” but then admit that she was entirely wrong this last year when she dismissed the fact that inflation is worsening. It could not be any clearer, Democrat policies are sending our economy straight into the ground.

Only one out of every six Granite Staters think our country is headed in the right direction and Joe Biden is underwater by 8% in New Hampshire. It is especially ironic that certain figures in the Democrat party called our agenda “out of touch” when they tried to take credit for Republican sponsored property tax relief just two weeks ago.

Democrats know that they’re in trouble in this state, so they’re desperately trying to gaslight you into giving them credit for Republican achievements. This November, don’t settle for an imitation, vote Republican.

MESSAGE FROM THE REPUBLICAN LEADER

House Republicans and Friends Across New Hampshire,

This week our caucus addressed some critically important legislation including SB418, relative to the verification of voter affidavits. It seems like today, the Democrat party wants to stifle confidence in our elections. One only needs to look back to last week to see the DNC trying to usurp our First in the Nation primary in favor of states like Nevada.

Yet, even after passing a house resolution that affirms our support for the First in the Nation Primary, many Democrats decided to leave the hall to belittle the remarks of my colleague, Representative Keith Ammon, who rose to speak in further support of our primary.

It is extremely disheartening to see our Democratic house colleagues claim to support our primary but then act in a manner so contradictory to their claims. It is no wonder that members of their own party are fleeing in droves and publicly disavowing themselves from the organization.

Meanwhile, as the Democrats continue to be in complete and total disarray, Republicans will continue to stand for low taxes, education freedom, and individual liberty. I hope that you join us in championing policies that will benefit all of the Granite Staters who we serve.

House Republicans Pass Bill to Address Voter Identification

Members of the House Election Law Committee released the following joint statement after the passage of SB418, relative to verification of voter affidavits, on a vote of 180-154.

House Election Law Chair Barbara Griffin (R-Goffstown)

“SB418 continues to allow anyone who comes to the polling location on Election Day to cast a ballot. This bill does not address citizenship, it addresses positive identification, a requirement in voting which has been upheld as legal across the country. This is a meaningful verification of that identification within seven days of the election. In 2020 there were 733 people who voted in our election without any identification, and 260 of those were left unverified after follow-up by the Secretary of State. This bill will fix this issue and ensure that the votes counted in our election are cast by those qualified to vote here.”

“Further, this bill would have no effect on military and overseas ballots, as the time period of affidavit verification has been decreased from 10 days to 7 days, which the Secretary of State’s office has indicated is adequate time to deal with the issuance of those ballots.”

Rep. Ross Berry (R-Manchester)

“There seems to be a narrative that Republicans are afraid of high voter turnout. Republicans are not afraid of turnout, we just won an election with the highest voter turnout in state history. The problem is that New Hampshire voters are rapidly losing confidence in our elections. Here in the state of New Hampshire, there is absolutely nothing required of you to vote. If you don’t have your identification, all you have to do is sign a piece of paper. This bill addresses those people who are showing up to the polling location on Election Day who are not registered to vote and who are registering to vote with nothing. If we want to increase voter turnout, we need to give the people a system that they can have faith in. That is what SB418 does.”

NH House Affirms Support for FITN

Rep. Keith Ammon (R-New Boston) released the following statement after the NH House passed a resolution affirming our support for the First in the Nation primary.

“Yesterday the House passed a resolution to affirm our support for the First in the Nation primary.”

“Last Thursday the Republican National Committee voted unanimously to make no changes to the presidential nominating calendar keeping the four early voting states. In contrast the Democratic National Committee has opened the door to a challenge to our First in the Nation status. They have given us two months to let us prove why we should keep the primary.”

“We are required by state law to be first, but the DNC’s obsession with identity politics is the reason why they believe New Hampshire should not keep the First in the Nation primary. We just celebrated the 100th anniversary in 2020. Even though we are a small state, in a small market, we have a proven ability to vet candidates for president. You do not have to be wealthy to run here, and if you want to be president, you can have a chance here.”

“New Hampshire has been a shining example of civic engagement since 1920, I thank the NH House for affirming our support for the First in the Nation preservation.”

Thanks to our state’s Republican led legislature, the state of  New Hampshire’s economy is strong. As our caucus continues to cut burdensome regulations to unleash the full strength and potential of our economy, our state’s revenues are up and we are poised to fully recover from where our economy was pre-covid.

In an era where Washington spending is completely out of control, our caucus is working hard to mitigate the effects of Democrat price hikes and spending-sprees which have caused inflation to skyrocket. While we continue to grow the New Hampshire economy, the best way that you can assist our Republican led state government is to make sure that we send as many Republicans as possible to Washington D.C. and Concord to fight for fiscally responsible policies. After all, our party’s policies are so popular that even Senator Maggie Hassan is pretending to be a Republican in a pitiable attempt to save face.

Representative Hershel Nunez (R-Pelham) released the following statement after the House Executive Departments & Administration committee passed HB314, relative to homestead food operation licensure by a vote of 16-0.
 

“Homestead food operations are an important source of income for Granite Staters, particularly in New Hampshire’s rural areas. These small, family-owned operations were among the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the lost revenue, homesteaders have seen their costs inflate by over 200%,” said Nunez. “HB314 is a significant step in aiding them on their pathway to recovery by increasing the amount of food they can sell before needing to purchase a license.”
 

“I thank my colleagues for unanimously supporting this common-sense legislation out of committee and look forward to passing it on the floor. House Republicans are committed to supporting our state’s business community and empowering the hardworking men and women of the Granite State. Whether it’s lowering business taxes or loosening regulations, we will continue the fight to expand the New Hampshire Advantage.”

House Republicans and Friends Across New Hampshire,

In case you missed it, Democrat State Representative William Marsh introduced legislation barring individuals promoting rebellion or insurrection from being State Representatives. Ironic that he’s so concerned about this issue while remaining silent about his fellow Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen calling for a rebellion. The hypocrisy is stunning. Apparently, this is only a concern if Democrats are able to use it as a political talking point for their own cynical purposes.

It is no wonder why our state was ranked #1 in the CATO Institute’s Freedom Index. From cutting taxes to school choice, our caucus has always prioritized the power of liberty in the Live Free or Die State. But to continue to enjoy our freedoms, we need to assure that we dedicate the resources that we need to preserve it.

The freedom of the Granite State is always at stake. This year we have seen the Democrats try to take control of our elections, monitor your bank account, force vaccinations, and so many other authoritarian policy disasters. Notice that our colleagues down the hall either remain completely silent or actively encourage the death of freedom as we know it. 

Liberty is on the ballot in 2022. We need every single Republican to turn out and assure that our caucus has the resources and manpower to say enough is enough and stop the radical Democrat agenda. The only way to truly assure that our freedom endures is to send every single Democrat, from Congress to the State House, home for good. If every one of us shows up to vote down the ballot for Republicans, I am confident that we will see that New Hampshire retains the number one spot on the Freedom Index for years to come.
